Fairmount Robotics and Coding Club (Spring 2027) K-5: Thursdays 2:45-3:45PM; Jan 14-May 20

Crest Robotics and Computing Academy will be providing robotics classes for Spring 2027 using Lego kits and Scratch (a block based coding platform built by MIT). Classes will be held on Thursdays after school from 2:45PM to 3:45PM. Classes start on Jan 14 and run through May 20, 2027. No class on Mar 25. In addition, we will shift to a virtual format to make up for any days for inclement weather and/or other emergencies.

For robotics, we focus on individual class projects where we create a small team of 2-3 children that complete a project including building and coding in each class. For coding in Scratch, each child will be working individually. We share photos and short videos of children working on their projects privately with the families in the class, through each family’s Crest account. Our goal is to teach children problem solving skills and logical thinking. We also teach children how to model good and positive behaviors, learn how to work in teams and build their self-confidence and esteem by encouraging them to talk about their creations at the end of each project.
