Rooney Ranch Robotics and Coding Club (Spring 2027) K-5: Mondays 2:35-3:35PM; Jan 25-Apr 26

Crest Robotics and Computing Academy will be providing robotics classes for Spring 2027 using Lego kits and Scratch (a block based coding platform built by MIT). Classes will be held on Mondays after school from 2:35PM to 3:35PM. Classes are on Mondays starting January 25 and running through Apr 26. No class on Feb 15, Mar 22, and Mar 29. In addition, May 3 will be used as a make up day for inclement weather and/or other emergencies.

For robotics, we focus on individual class projects where we create a small team of 2-3 children that complete a project including building and coding in each class. For coding in Scratch, each child will be working individually. We use Google Photos to share pictures and videos of children working on projects, with their parents, and also offer parents a chance for parent teacher conferences to discuss their learning and growth. Our goal is to teach children problem solving skills and logical thinking. We also teach children how to model good and positive behaviors, learn how to work in teams and build their self-confidence and esteem by encouraging them to talk about their creations at the end of each project.
