Crest Robotics and Coding Academy will be providing robotics classes for 2026-27 using LEGO kits and Scratch, a block-based coding platform built by MIT. Classes will be held at Weber Elementary School, located at 8725 West 81st Place, Arvada, CO 80005. Classes will be held on Tuesdays after school from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM. Classes start on Dec 1 and run through May 18. There will be no class on December 22, December 29, January 5 and March 23. In addition, April 27 and May 18 will be used as makeup days for inclement weather or other emergencies. For robotics, we focus on individual class projects where we create a small team of 2-3 children that complete a project including building and coding in each class. For coding in Scratch, each child will be working individually. We use Google Photos to share pictures and videos of children working on projects, with their parents, and also offer parents a chance for parent teacher conferences to discuss their learning and growth. Our goal is to teach children problem solving skills and logical thinking. We also teach children how to model good and positive behaviors, learn how to work in teams and build their self-confidence and esteem by encouraging them to talk about their creations at the end of each project.
