STEM Elementary Coding Club for Grades K - 5 Spring: Thursdays 2:35PM-3:30PM

Crest Robotics and Coding Academy will be providing coding classes for 2023-24 using Scratch (a block based coding platform built by MIT). Classes will be held on Thursdays after school from 2:35PM to 3:30PM. Classes start on Feb 8 and run through May 9. No class on Mar 21. In case of inclement weather, we will do a virtual class.

For coding in Scratch, each child will be working individually. Kindergartners and first graders will be on SCRATCH Junior and second grade and up will be on SCRATCH. Note these are only guidelines: some Kindergarteners and first graders can also be on SCRATCH if they are ready. There are multiple levels of projects that are age and grade apprpriate. We use Seesaw to share pictures and videos of children working on projects, with their parents, and also offer parents a chance for parent teacher conferences to discuss their learning and growth. Our goal is to teach children problem solving skills and logical thinking. We also teach children how to model good and positive behaviors, learn how to work in teams and build their self-confidence and esteem by encouraging them to talk about their creations at the end of each project.
